“Where passion meets proficiency” has long been the motto at the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club, but it became the rallying cry at this elegant retreat on Pleasant Bay two years ago when they set their sights on achieving the prestigious five-star rating from Forbes Travel Guide, bestowed upon them in February. They are the first resort on Cape Cod to receive the coveted rating.
According to Forbes standards, five-star properties are “outstanding, often iconic properties with virtually flawless service and amazing facilities.” Managing Partner Mark Novota says they started to look closely at what specifically it would take to achieve it. They integrated Forbes exacting standards into their employee training and built upon their culture of intuitive personalized care. Forbes sent anonymous inspectors on at least three different occasions during the months-long process, so everyone on staff had to go above and beyond expectations.
Joining a very elite group of hotels and resorts has made everyone at the Wequassett proud. “I couldn’t be happier for the team who worked so hard for it,” says Novota, during a recent sit-down interview. “We’re excited to be the Cape’s first five-star resort. We see it as a community celebration,” he adds. “We take this new distinction very seriously and plan to work harder than ever to be worthy of it.” – Lisa Cavanaugh
